Purpose and content of document:
The memorandum of understanding stipulates a deadline as well as conditions for the drawing of the management plan. Management plans prepared by forest companies are submitted to a committee, who reviews and approves it. Having this document demonstrates the company has gone through the appropriate process to get its management plan approved. The management plan is detailing the forest resources and all the management and logging activities intended to be carried out in the forest concession. Management plans are further detailed into 5-year management programmes. They describe more in details the situation of the 5-year production forest units (UFP) and the activities to be undertaken.

The existence of those documents does not guarantee that the management prescriptions are implemented on the field.
